Visit Switzerland for a day – Grindlewald

visit-switzerland-for-a-day

In Tasmania’s Tamar Valley lies the odd yet fascinating Swiss style village of Grindlewald, no it’s not Johnny Depp playing the dark wizard from ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, but it is a tourist attraction, just 15 minutes drive North of Launceston

Established in 1980 as a unique residential development, the houses have been constructed in Swiss style, with iconic wide eaves, flower-boxes, window shutters and balconies.

The settlement is nestled amongst some stunning scenery of the Tamar Valley, a visit to the village is a great experience.

The Tamar Valley Resort at Grindlewald is a popular destination with a range of accommodation, a shopping arcade, craft and gift shops, day spa, hairdresser, pro golf shop, chocolatier (of course!) and a bakery. Basically a little swiss village for you to explore!

Browse the speciality and boutique stores, enjoy a meal at the Lakeside Bistro and lounge bar or test your skills at the 18 hole mini golf course. Or you could play a round on the 10 hole public golf course.

There’s also aqua bike hire and canoeing on the lake, with a huge bouncing pillow sure to delight and excite the kids.
